10 Tips To Get Your Site Ranked on 1st Page of Google Search


1. Understand your Online Market and Target Customers

Habits and behavior of users often differ online compared to offline world.

Search online for products and services you offer and take note of the prominent websites. Study their customer reviews and benchmark their social media presence and activity.


2. Research your Keywords

Keyword research provides an understanding of key phrases, search terms, and online demand for products or services.

You run keyword research with tools like Google’s Keyword Planner.

Understand your industry’s short-tail keywords (general and highest search volume) and long-tail key-phrases (varied and more specific key phrases usually over four words).


3. Plan your Site

Plan the pages on your website along the above search keywords. The keywords form the basis of your website’s architecture.

Each high and medium priority keyword should have a corresponding page on your site, while long-tail keywords should be used in blog posts and FAQs.


4. Build your Site

Now that you have an idea of the pages that should be on your site, the next step is to build the best site in your industry.

Beautiful and user-friendly sites will attract users to visit over and over again, thereby increasing its traffic and rankings.

5. Do Basic On-Page Optimization 

A. Title tag

Shown as click-though link in a Google search result. This should be main keyword of the website.

B. Meta description

Helps attract visitors from the search results page. This should include 2-3 keywords.

C. H1 tag

This is the title of page content and should use 1 main keyword for the page.

D. Alt tags

This is the floating descriptions that show up when you mouse over an image. Use variation of keywords for this.


6. Blog or Produce Regular Content

Start publishing your own content on a scheduled basis. We recommend scheduling weekly, bi-weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly updates because consistency is key.

Content does not necessarily need to be text — for example, an architectural firm could publish professionally taken photographs of its projects or Realtors could publish weekly video bulletins. Publishing content that is tailored to the content consumption habits of your target audience is the goal.

Remember to do step 5 (on-page optimization) for every new blog page.


7. Build your Social Media Network

Share your content on social media platforms like Google+ ,Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, and more. Social media enables you connect with your customers, publishers, and an audience for the content that you produce. Nurturing relationships would swiftly produce results and help your SEO in the long run.


8. Press Release and Guest Blogs

Connect with other websites, press release sites and blogs by emailing the authors. Build relationships with then and pitch for guest posting opportunities.

Guest posts are particularly useful for establishing credibility and authority, and generating powerful inbound links for a rankings boost.


9. Create Local Listings on Yelp, Google and Facebook

If your business has multiple locations, create a listing for each one. Build out the listing with rich content — photos, videos and links to your website. Google is increasingly focusing on returning local results, so it’s critically important to have your local online presence properly mapped out.


10. Understand Google Analytics
